After reading How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, I had high expectations for this book. However, I didn't find it to be up to my expectations. While I wonโ€™t say I was entirely disappointed, I did not agree with several points either.

The first section, focusing on How to Win Friends, emphasizes making genuine connections, which I value. Some advice, such as listening to others and giving sincere praises are certainly practices I believe in. However, the suggestion to focus solely on discussing topics that others are interested in or speaking about them to make them feel good as a way to build friendships doesnโ€™t resonate with me. While making others feel valued is important, forming a friendship based primarily on discussing someone else's interests alone feels a bit forced. In my opinion, true friendship should be based on mutual respect and shared understanding rather than simply focusing on one person's interests all the time..

I believe that a genuine connection should be balanced, where both parties feel heard and appreciated. Therefore, while I found certain aspects of the book insightful, this approach to building friendships didnโ€™t align with my perspective.
The second part of the book, focused on Influencing People, does offer some valuable insights. However, it seems more applicable to businesses and organizations rather than individuals. Although some strategies could be adapted for personal use, most of them are geared toward corporate settings or leadership roles. Although the advice is valuable, its real strength lies in professional environments where influence is crucial to success. For someone looking to apply these ideas personally, the content might feel less relevant or too structured for everyday interactions.

My Rating:

3/5
