Ellie Jones, a 26-year-old New Orleans native, has come a long way from her teenage years as the internet's most infamous rejection meme following an awkward TV appearance. Now Ellie is a successful commercial real estate agent, proving she's moved on from her past-at least, mostly.
When Miles Crowe, a former rock star, unexpectedly steps back into her life, things take a surprising turn. Miles, oblivious to their shared history, seeks Ellieโ€™s expertise to secure the perfect spot for his new jazz club. However, the twist? Twelve years ago, Miles humiliated Ellie on national television, leaving a mark she hasnโ€™t entirely erased. Determined to keep her past hidden, Ellieโ€™s attempts to sabotage her role as his agent hilariously backfire, ultimately drawing his attention to her even more.
What follows is an entertaining and heartfelt journey as Ellie grapples with her lingering grudge while navigating the undeniable chemistry brewing between them. Watching her try to remain unseen in their initial meeting had me chuckling, yet itโ€™s through these moments that her vulnerability and resilience shine. This story beautifully captures Ellieโ€™s growth, showing how sheโ€™s overcome her past while embracing the complexities of love and forgiveness.

Here are some other aspects of the book: the straightforward and lucid language makes reading effortless and engaging. The narration is amazing, creating a fast-paced flow that kept me hooked from start to finish. The character development is equally commendable, with each personality carefully fleshed out.
Some readers might find Ellieโ€™s character occasionally frustrating or overly emotional. However, given the trauma she endured during her teenage years, I felt her reactions were entirely justifiable. Her behaviour is a mix of vulnerability and resilience, capturing the complexity of someone carrying the weight of past experiences.
One of the reasons I thoroughly enjoyed it was because it was a closed-door romance, charming in its tone. I highly recommend it. That said, if youโ€™re seeking steamy, high-heat scenes, this might not be the book for you. Instead, it offers a heartwarming, endearing story perfect for fans of lighthearted, emotional romance.

My Rating:

4/5
