The Prophet remains the cornerstone of Gibranโs literary legacy. Written in a beautiful poetic style, it recounts the farewell speech of Almustafa, a prophet about to leave Orphalese after twelve years of exile. Before he departs, the folk of the town ask him to share his wisdom on various aspects of life such as love, marriage, children, work, and freedom.
This collection features three of Khalil Gibranโs renowned works: The Prophet, The Broken Wings, and A Tear and a Smile.
The Prophet is arguably Gibranโs most celebrated piece, consisting of 26 poetic essays that explore universal themes such as love, time, and work. Each essay resonates with profound philosophy and timeless wisdom, making it a book that touches the soul no matter how many times you revisit it.
The Broken Wings, set in early 20th-century Beirut, is a poignant and poetic tale of tragic love. Gibran masterfully weaves deep emotions into every line, drawing readers into the depths of his charactersโ experiences.
The Tear and a Smile offers a beautiful collection of verses and poems that reflect life, human nature, and the essence of existence. The writing is thought-provoking and reflective, inviting readers to contemplate the many facets of being alive.
While I found the writing style slightly different from contemporary prose, it is still accessible and engaging. I skipped some parts since I'm not a poetry fan. For poetry enthusiasts and philosophers, this collection is a treasure trove.

3/5
